Fanmio ordered to pay Masvidal over $5M for '24 fight vs. Diaz - ESPN

A Florida judge has awarded UFC veteran Jorge Masvidal a substantial judgment of over $5 million in his lawsuit against online platform Fanmio. This ruling stems from a dispute over the promotion of Masvidal's highly anticipated 2024 boxing match against Nate Diaz. The judge's decision, signed off by Judge Beatrice Butchko Sanchez, aligns with an arbitrator's award of $5,315,268.64 to Masvidal, plus post-judgment interest, from the fight.
Masvidal's legal action began in January, alleging that his contract for the Diaz fight included a base purse of $6 million, with an additional $1 million contingent on his victory. However, Masvidal's claim was that he only received a $150,000 advance and a $1 million payment, despite losing the fight by decision. The arbitrator's ruling in favor of Masvidal brings this matter to a close, but it's not the only legal battle Fanmio is facing.
Interestingly, Nate Diaz also filed a lawsuit against Fanmio just two weeks after Masvidal's case, claiming he was owed over $9 million for his fight with Masvidal. An arbitrator awarded Diaz $6 million, along with attorney fees, and the case is still pending a final decision. Additionally, Fanmio has been involved in a lawsuit with Golden Boy Promotions and Ryan Garcia over a canceled exhibition match with Rukiya Anpo, scheduled for December 31, 2024. Garcia ultimately fought Rolando Romero instead.
