Mick Harvey Takes Over Harnesslink: Building on Harness Racing's Legacy (2025)

Hold onto your hats, harness racing fans! A new chapter begins as Mick Harvey steps up to lead Harnesslink, carrying forward a legacy of independent reporting and passionate coverage of the sport we all love. This isn't just a changing of hands; it's a commitment to amplifying the voices within our vibrant community.

As of October 14th, 2025, I, Mick Harvey, am officially at the helm of Harnesslink, the premier independent platform for harness racing news and information around the globe. For over two decades, Harnesslink has been the go-to source for comprehensive coverage, and that’s all thanks to the incredible work of John Curtin. Over the past 23 years, John built something truly special – a platform that champions independent voices, connects individuals across continents, and celebrates harness racing at every level. A heartfelt thank you to John for his unwavering dedication and for creating such a strong foundation.

My vision? To build upon John's incredible work and solidify Harnesslink's position as the voice for the global harness racing community. Our sport thrives on positive stories, transparent communication, and mutual support across all sectors. This includes everyone from the breeders who nurture incredible equine athletes, to the dedicated trainers and skilled drivers, to the passionate owners, enthusiastic fans, and the administrators who keep the wheels turning. We need to support each other, and Harnesslink will be a key part of doing that.

And this is the part most people miss... Harnesslink isn't just about reporting scores and results. It's about telling the stories behind the sport. It's about the early mornings, the late nights, the unwavering dedication, and the deep connection between humans and horses.

Harnesslink will continue to deliver the news, insightful features, and in-depth analysis you've come to expect, all with the same unwavering independence and passion. But I also aim to broaden our reach, encourage greater participation in the sport, and shine an even brighter spotlight on the incredible individuals who make harness racing so compelling. Think of it as taking a good thing and making it even better – more inclusive, more engaging, and more representative of the global tapestry of harness racing.

Harness racing has always been about community, the relentless pursuit of excellence, and an undeniable love for horses. I am incredibly proud to be part of this story, and I'm deeply committed to supporting the industry's future through Harnesslink. It's a responsibility I don't take lightly.

But here's where it gets controversial... Some might say that focusing on positive coverage is naive, that we should be more critical and expose the darker sides of the sport. What are your thoughts? Do you believe a platform like Harnesslink should primarily focus on uplifting stories, or should it dedicate more resources to investigative journalism, even if it means potentially damaging the sport's image?

I encourage you to share your opinions in the comments below. Let's have an open and honest discussion about the future of Harnesslink and the role it should play in our beloved sport. What kind of content do you want to see more of? What aspects of harness racing do you think deserve more attention? Your voice matters, and I'm eager to hear what you have to say.
